Custom development

Your clinic isn't generic. Your software shouldn't be either.

Statelayer covers billing, scheduling, and analytics out of the box — but every practice has a workflow nothing on the market handles. When yours does, we build it with you, ship it in weeks, and run it as part of your platform.

Why we offer this

Every ketamine clinic runs a little differently.

One practice is Spravato-only and out-of-network; another mixes IV infusions with cash-pay. One has an in-house billing team; another pays an external biller. One lives in their EHR; another runs everything through a CRM. Off-the-shelf software can't fit all of those shapes — which is why so much of the work still ends up in spreadsheets.

Your options used to be living with the gaps, hiring developers, or briefing a generic agency that's never seen a ketamine clinic. We offer a fourth: tell us the pain point, and we build the missing piece into your platform — software shaped to your clinic, run as a service.

How it works

From pain point to working software, in three steps.

1. Tell us the pain point

A short conversation about how your clinic runs today — what's manual, what's leaking, what nothing on the market handles. No spec documents required.

2. We build it with you

A working version in days, shaped with your team's feedback. We release every week, so you see real progress — not a roadmap slide.

3. It runs as a service

The finished tool becomes part of your Statelayer platform for a monthly fee. We host it, support it, and keep improving it — you never inherit a codebase.

What we've built this way

Real tools that started as one clinic's request.

EHR integration

A clinic on Osmind liked its notes but not its reporting — so we built an integration that pulls their visits straight into the billing pipeline and analytics.

Queues for an external biller

A practice ran billing through two parallel spreadsheets. Now their biller works in Statelayer's submit, EOB, and denial queues — and the clinic gets full visibility for free.

AI scheduling assistant

A patient-facing chat that offers genuinely open appointment times from the live schedule. It went from an idea in a conversation to a working demo within a week.

CRM sync

Patient and scheduling data synchronized with CRMs like Salesforce — the front desk keeps the tools they already run, and the platform stays current.

Electronic claims connectivity

Automated claim status and electronic remittances pulled into the platform — rolling out now for a clinic that wanted real-time visibility without portal-hopping.

AI reporting

Ask a question about your business in plain English — which payer pays best, what's aging past 90 days — and get the answer with the report behind it.

Why it works

We don't start from zero — we start from ketamine.

A generic dev shop would spend months learning what a Spravato visit involves, how buy-and-bill works, or why out-of-network EOBs land the way they do. We only build for ketamine clinics, so that context is already in the product — your custom build starts from a platform that speaks your clinic's language.

  • Domain depth built in — Spravato and IV/IM, cash and insurance, in-house and external billers.
  • No rip-and-replace — custom work runs alongside your EHR, CRM, and biller, like everything we ship.
  • Every build sharpens the platform — features born from one clinic's request make the product better for the next.
Common questions

Custom development, answered.

How does pricing for custom development work?

Statelayer charges a monthly fee for the platform, which includes support and the customizations every clinic needs. For something genuinely new, we typically build it in collaboration with your clinic, and it becomes part of your platform for an ongoing monthly fee — custom software as a service. If a different arrangement fits your project better, we're happy to shape the engagement to match.

Is this a consulting engagement?

Our default is custom software as a service: we build the tool with you, then host, support, and keep improving it as part of your Statelayer subscription — you get the outcome of a custom build without owning software maintenance. For projects where a consulting or project-based engagement is a better fit, we're happy to structure the work that way too.

How fast can Statelayer build something custom?

We release new features every week, and a first working version of a new idea is typically a matter of days, not months. Our patient-facing AI scheduling assistant went from an idea in a conversation to a working demo within a week.

Will custom work fit the tools my clinic already uses?

Yes. Custom builds follow the same no-rip-and-replace approach as the rest of Statelayer: they work alongside your existing EHR, CRM, and billing setup. We've built integrations that pull visits from a clinic's EHR into the billing pipeline and sync patient data with the CRM the clinic already runs. See how Statelayer fits your stack →

Who maintains custom features after they ship?

We do. Custom features become part of the Statelayer platform — we host them, monitor them, fix issues, and keep improving them as your clinic's needs evolve. Your team never inherits a codebase.

What's the workflow nothing on the market handles?

Tell us about the spreadsheet your team dreads, the tool that almost fits, or the idea you wish existed. We'd love 20 minutes to hear it — and we might have a working version sooner than you'd think.
